I just completed 4
mods to the
tongue of our new (to us) 2015 178:
1- Added 2nd deep cycle battery
2- Added 2nd propane tank
3- Added Husky 4500 power jack
4- Moved spare to tongue so I could mount our bike rake on back
Pretty basic, battery box and new deep cycle connected in parallel.
I cut off the original single tank holder with an angle grinder and bolted this on using the 2 original holes thru the frame. I added 2 more bolts thru the angle iron cross support.
This i where I bought the dual tank hardware:
I bought the Husky 4500 from Amazon. Easy install - left the trailer connected to my Xterra. Removed the old hand crank and bolded on the new. One wire to battery:
This was a great find on Amazon and works great! Now we have room for our bike rack on the back of the trailer.
I did add a 2x6 spacer block to move the holder out some from the frame to make room for the 2nd propane tank and cover. I need to paint it black.
I did buy this tank cover from Amazon as well (if Amazon doesn't sell it you don't need it)
It comes in beige to match the trailer.
I did have to offset the propane tanks a few inches to accommodate the spare tire.
IT looks great!
