Outbound I feel your pain. I always lock both locks when we leave the camper as I just feel better that way. I also lock my truck up even when it is sitting in front of the camper. Old habits die hard and after living 16 years in a city it is habit.

While I am of the mindset that if someone wants your stuff bad enough, he or she will find a way to get it, I think that it will be smart to replace the storage locks to something else.

Campgrounds, here in Indiana, are pretty safe. The youngsters, from time to time do like to sneek in at night and steal coolers. It seems the little cherubs have a taste for free beer ! The coolers are usually found....minus the brew.

Has anyone replaced the key to the locks on the Pod door? One of ours got run over (another story, about the key, that is). The guys in orange didn't seem to want to find a replacement blank. Does anyone know the key style, number, etc., so I can get new ones made?

I had spares made, but I went to a local locksmith to do it. They had the blanks in stock. The key model is FIC (or FIC1 for one without the black plastic). I ran across this page: http://mysecuritypro.com/ficlocksprecutfickeys.aspx for ordering by key number (it looks like there are only 50 unique keys. < ="-" ="text/; =utf-8">

Thanks, Outbound. I'll start by going back to HD armed with the information about the key style and try some other outlets. If no luck, I'll get a few blanks online and have them cut.

We have a ball lock (looks just like the ball on the hitch and fills that space) and I am thinking of getting a wheel lock but I agree that campgrounds are usually pretty safe.
Best measures are not to park in dodgy areas when travelling, park where there is lots of light. Keep your tow vehicle secure with a steering wheel lock like the Club. After all, if they steal your vehicle they get a free R-pod with it! Also don't store valuables in the trailer.
I don't think anyone is going to break in for old clothes, camping pots and pans and pictures of kids (nice as they are) . The only thing we have ever had stolen by people in 60 years of camping is one bag of dry firewood. Bears and raccoons are another story. On the other hand we have had people take our towels off the line and fold them neatly and put them just inside the tent, then zip the tent securely during a sudden storm. Most campers are good neighbours.

Is the "ball lock" a coupler lock?
