I have a new 2017 178 HRE.  I have a concern about the antenna and how easy it is to snap off either by a branch or even when trying to put the cover on her.  Has anyone created a cover to protect the antenna?

One learns to look ahead up high.  The antenna wobbles because it is not a hard connection. No answer for the cover other than a 6ft step ladder and a 6ft stick.  After replacing a vent cover, one remembers to check it each time.  Keeping an RV is not for casual users.  One has to keep thinking all the time.

The antenna heads are not cheap to replace either. We stopped to visit friends in Arizona. The mesquite trees in their driveway caught the antenna head and ripped it off. I said that we would not be pulling the R-Pod into their place anymore. There is a nice RV park not too far from where they live. There are not any overhanging trees there to worry about.

I discovered that my antenna was snapped off when the wife returned from a trip. I covered the hole and bought a portable indoor antenna from Walmart for about $30. Works as well as the original one did!
