A while back some of us on here were questioning the center brackets on the Thule awning, but I can't remember which thread it was on, so I'll start a new thread just dealing with that question.

On the Thule awning on our Pods the brackets in the center that you lock the bottom ends of the support rods under when getting ready to put the awning away have keyhole slots in them.  I discovered that you can remove the support rods on the ends of the awning by turning them and pulling them out and you can then insert them in the center brackets.  Everyone was wondering "why"????  There appears to be no reason for it and having two support rods in the center of the awning and none on the end made no sense.  A call to the dealer gained nothing as nobody in the shop had a clue.  A call to Forest River had no answer.  A call to Thule USA told me I'd have to go to the Manufacturer in Sweden.  An email to them said I'd have to contact Thule USA because they are made to their specs.  See the circle?

Finally one of the guys at Thule in Sweden got hold of one of the engineers (after weeks of emails and waiting and sending pictures, etc) and today I got this answer:

Hi,

Yes, we build those awnings and indeed Thule USA will have no idea.

In the meantime, I got the answer from the engineer.

This piece is a universal piece that secures the support leg in the lead rail and in which one can also an additional support.
The 3rd support leg is especially used in longer awnings and in combination with a tent.
With an awning of 2.44m this has of course no sense.

Best Regards
Frank
