Good day fellow podders.  I have decided to dump the rpod.  Gonna get out of the camping business for a while, then get back in about a year or so.  My question is how much do I ask.  Obviously midwest pricing, but heres the story.  Theres two things wrong with it which I will fully disclose (there obvious anyway!!).  The fridge does not work on gas, electric and battery work fine.  I have done everything possible to get the gas working with no avail.  Gas works everywhere else.  I think the bigger issue is the floor has gotten spungy.  Im not going to repair that but sell as is.  Besides those two issues, the pod is in very good shape.  Any thoughts on pricing with these two issues.  I am aware of the basic pricing in the midwest, but it doesnt include my issues.  I just want to be fair and again will disclose the issues.  Please be honest!!!  jon

Sorry to see you leaving the rPod family but really sorry to see you getting out of camping. Hope you do make it back. Not sure of what the market is like in the mid-west, but it does seem the used RV market is a bit soft. I would say you could should be asking between $7,500 and $10,000. Good luck. Hope the right buyer comes along.

I think campers are selling slower now could be the economy people have less money to spend.

Seems to me that the Covid pandemic caused quite a surge in the sales of RV's, as people looked for things to do and ways reduce the risk of Covid by going camping in isolated areas.  The surge and fall in the RV market exactly tracks the rise and fall of he pandemic.  We replaced our Pod 172 with the Sonoma trailer just before the pandemic and got a great deal on the trailer.  Now, that the pandemic is gone, we're seeing substantial discounts being offered once again by RV dealers and the used trailer market seems to have shifted back to a normal state, where supply and demand are more balanced.  We've also noticed that campground reservations are easier to make, probably because people are staying home to party with friends and attend local entertainment events.

I completely agree with this. During the pandemic RVs were selling like hotcakes, and you couldn't get a campground reservation anywhere. Now, people are buying at a more-or-less "normal" rate, but dealer inventories are chock full, and people who bought during the pandemic have changed their minds.

Bottom line: inventories are up, and prices are down.

Similar thing with automobiles, but that was driven largely by the pandemic-induced parts shortage.

The pandemic was a really, really big deal, and I think people have a short memory about all the things that got messed up.

I just read an article how Winnebago has missed sales and earning targets for 3 quarters. The industry is hurting and bloated with inventory, so I agree with all of the above analysis.

With regard to campgrounds, we used to reserve sites but now we almost exclusively have to go first come first served in National Forest and State Parks because reservable sites are all snatched up. The issue is all of the reserved sites that are vacant because folks backout but don't cancel their reservations. Not uncommon to see 3 or 4 sites vacant and camp hosts having to turn campers away. Really annoying.

I wonder if it would help free up unused reserved sites if Recreation.gov revised the $10 cancellation fee.  Perhaps eliminating it for cancellations made a couple weeks or more before the reserved date would incentivize people to be a little more considerate about canceling and making space available for others.  Here in the NE there are so few National Forest and National Park camping opportunities, that we can use all the help we can get to free up space.

Jon, are you saying you will ask $4000 for your RPod?  I'm considering moving up and was hoping to get close to $10,000 for my 179.  Maybe I will be cramped one more year if the market is that soft and hope values improve or I get a fantastic deal on a replacement.
