I will be unable to use my Pod for an extended period of time. However, I will have someone available to charge my batteries etc. Is it better to turn on the refrigerator at the same time the batteries are being charged? Usually 24 hours tops off the batteries. I know that the refrigerator uses an evaporative system. Would running it for a day per month help keep the system from deteriorating? Or is it better to just let it sit? My maintenance person is willing to wipe out the refrigerator after each use to prevent mold.

It won't hurt the fridge to not be run. But...be sure to leave the fridge door open when not in use. Mold and odor will result if it is closed up. Even wiping it out won't stop all of it as there are little nooks and crannies that won't be reached.

Your fridge should have a little latch that pops out and holds the door slightly cracked when not in use.
That with a box of baking soda keeps it nice and clean smelling and ick free!

The fridge in our 'stream was not turned on for 4 years, didn't hurt a thing near as I can tell.

I have my pod in a barn with full hookups. I keep my pod plugged in all the time and my fridge on AC. Cooling is not based on moving parts that wear. I have done this with other RV's too.
If you don't have electricity. Prop the door and try to dry it out completely before going away. Mold can do some damage. |

Look for the latch on the stationary part of the latch system, inside the fridge. I think mine is a little gray bump. |
