Quick question on my slide-out (2014 R-Pod 179): I just bought this camper this weekend. The seller told me: "when you are moving the slide-out in or out, make sure you never stop half-way in or halfway out. It could mess up the slide-out". I questioned him as to why? He said "I don't know...the dealer told me that when it was new".

Is this true? Can it cause harm to the slide-out if it is stopped halfway?

The reason for not stopping part-way is that the two motors that move the slide-out can get out of synchronization. I have stopped part way several times because I saw that the flap under the refrigerator was going to hit something. It will not necessarily get the motors out of sync every time, but the advice given was to minimize the possibility. Running it in or out all the way is best but it won't break if you need to stop half-way.

See this video for Schwintech slide-out retiming.

I updated my prior answer to add a video link which should be helpful.

Stephen thanks for the video it is helpful.   I checked out a couple of the other Schwintech videos too while I was looking, but I couldn't find out if there is any information on products for protecting the seals on the slide outs.

When I picked up my 2017 RPod 178 this weekend, the dealer did not warn me about stopping part-way, but did tell me to hold the button for 3 seconds after the slide stopped moving to synch the motors.

Look for Protect All Slide-Out Rubber Seal Treatment. That is what I use.
