Topic: Slide out wiring check Posted: 26 May 2017 at 9:46am |
I wondered that, too. I'm assuming to protect the wires and water line if something were to ever get caught behind the panel during slide-out extension. Or maybe to keep everything nice and tidy...that would be a Forest River first.

Thanks for the post! Any idea what the purpose of the thin board is? Is it even needed?

Roger that! Saw the controller but didn't try to read anything.

While down there get yourself familiar with the slide out controller (hidden behind the big wire in the photo). There's a reset button, with instructions, that can get the slide out back in sync. It's hard to get to, and hard to read, when the slide out is in, and stuck. This is from experience.

For those of you with a slide-out, you may want to remove the panel under the fridge (179) and put an eyeball on things. I know the picture is a little fuzzy but the main wire going to the fridge/microwave was quite tight when the slide is retracted. Plus the smaller gauge wires were sitting, possibly rubbing, on top of the thin board piece. I thought the edge of this thin board would chafe the insulation off the wires over time. I put a piece of wire loom on top of the board plus on the wires with electrical tape. Also re-positioned the wires so they weren't so stretched. Should have taken a final picture.
