So happy for you! We love our 179 and I'm betting you'll love yours. And sounds like someone will have the chance to buy a well cared for & mod'd 173.

Did you find it at Country Roads RV Center in Lexington? That is where we purchased our 179. We have really enjoyed ours. You are not that far away from us (Wake Forest). My wife and I are trying to get a fall camping trip in. I was thinking of Falls Lake's Holly Point Campground. We have stayed there twice and enjoyed it very much.

Vann, I appreciate your many posts since 2011 that I have read and benefited from.  Thanks for your insight and knowledge; it is appreciated.  I don't believe the 173 had a slide so in addition to having one on the 179 and the extra length, you may get lost in it with all the additional room. LOL

Congrats! I bought my 179 this past April and have loved camping with it this season. I think you will really like it. I have a few YouTube videos at the link above my pic (below) that are specific to the 179. All the best. ~JM

We will soon be selling our beloved R Pod 173-- really sad!
But, we are glad because we just bought a used 179!! Yea!!

We have been looking at the 179 for 2 years and talking about getting one. We just finished a 3 month, 11,000 mile trip and during the trip we convinced ourselves that we wanted/needed a larger trailer. We did exhaustive internet research. We oosolated what we thought were all of the models we might be interested in.We limited ourselves to a 21 foot max length so as to still be able to dry camp in the many parks, blm lands and campgrounds out west.

So, we started looking all the way home to NC from California. We stopped at RV dealers in several states. There are now about 7 different rpod 179 clones. We looked at all of them and many more models/floorplans.   We decided the original R Pod 179 was still the best.

We found a gently used 179 at a dealer about 2.5 hours from our home. The unit has been used only 4 times and within a 40 mile radius- almost new! So we bought it !

So, we will slowly start to get the 173 ready for sale. It has many modifications including a full size queen, nice dinete, 100 watt solar system, 2" bike rack receiver , r dome and many more amenities. I will post pictures and descriptions after we finish getting it ready. First, we have to finish unloading it!! We just got home Thursday night.

We will be re- reading past forum posts for 179 ideas! Thanks to all of the generous forum members for all of the input and great help.

Vann
