I love the fact that we don't get wet every time we camp...When we tent camped, I think I always, I mean ALWAYS was rained on, and had a mess to take home and clean!  It is the little play house I never got as a child!! I love it's size and the ease camping with it!  I enjoy meeting new people and giving a quick tour...everyone is curious about the Rpod!

My favorite is having a bathroom and shower. Do not have to walk or in some cases drive to the public bathroom and shower.

I will always love tent camping and what you described is a fantastic field camp! Our camping is mostly dispersed and it's common for us to camp a different place every night, made easy by our minimalist setup (including at times a tarp on the ground with a COMFY mattress). Other than backpacking our RPod fits into this pretty well too even though we won't take it every place that we currently drive our 4WD trucks, we'll still get to lots of isolated places with it and relatively quick set up. And we're already enjoying camping in campgrounds with hookups as yet another option. So many variations on the theme, RPod's size and  maneuverability really fit well for us. And yeah, a shower! Wow! Quite a step up from my solar shower bags that hang from the rack on my truck. Hike, shower, rinse, repeat. Thanks RPod!

I have not used the shower in the pod yet so it is good to here you enjoy it that much. Another necessity I had when tent camping was my pop up shower, one that still goes with me in the pod. When we hunt, we religiously take showers every day and we found the most efficient way to do so. My buddy uses a car battery, bilge pump and a 8 gallon pot that can just about put a house shower to shame!
-always camp by water, preferably a creek.
-fill water jugs in morning and let sit in the sun for the day if possible, not necessary though.
I got the cabelas instant shower that sets up like a quick shade. Lots of room and sheltered from the elements. I pair this with a zodi hot tap shower and a old metal chair that I borrow from my friend every year because I forget one! Burner goes right outside shower usually hanging from rope tied between shower and tree. I preheat water a bit on my outside camp stove and you can have as hot a shower as you can stand. 5g bucket of water sits on chair inside shower so I can easily put shower head in to recirculate water when soaping up. I am more than impressed with the zodi and how good of shower you can get with 5g of water. I only do this when dispersed camping although in the right campground I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
When camping in high cascade lakes of Oregon I told my wife I was going out to take a shower and she said ..yeah right.. (she hadn't seen my shower setup yet) ..within 10 minutes she peeked out the back pod window (still too cold for her to get out of bed with our 1 year old) and saw steam a rollin out of my shower house! I like the ability to use our resources and take as long as shower As i want without filling the tanks, though I do want to try the pod shower.

Just keep the shower a little ways away from water sources and you're good. 200' I believe when dispersed camping.

We love our R Pod for many reasons.  We are probably different in our usage than most podders in that we never use it for weekends or short trips.   We use our pod as our long term camper on multi week/month trips.  We just returned from a trip that was 84 days and 11,000 miles.  we did visit some friends and relatives, but still spent 59 nights in the pod during this trip.  We have done 4 other trips(so far, more coming!!)  that were similar .

The pod allowed us to set up for 13 nights in one campground--no power, just water  in the campground.  We used our portable solar panels to keep our dual 6 volt golf cart batteries charged. We also used a 5 gallon water container to refill the tank when needed.  The large holding tanks are well suited for 2 people in a long term setting if they are very conservative.  So, longer term usage is great.

So, the pod is our  travelling home away from home.  It allows us to boondock, stay in developed campgrounds or primitive campgrounds, stay in relatives back yard or stay in a full service RV resort type of setting.  The versatility is one of the best features of the pods.

The pod also has "good bones to work with " as one of our other members said.  It is a great platform to add personal touches and modifications.  My brother in law said the only reason we have it is so I can change it!! It can be adapted to one's personal tastes and needs in a lot of ways.  Again, very versatile.

On our trips, we cook almost all of our meals .  The pod is well equipped with stove, refrigerator and occasionally a microwave if we are connected to "real" power.  We add a small propane grill and a propane camp oven and we are set to make a simple or gourmet meal. There is plenty of storage for all of our kitchen stuff.

We love our pod because it allows us to travel our way, at our pace and with our toys as well as our necessities.

We love our pod---but we are selling it soon.  Our 2009 173 has been replaced with a newer(2015)  179 model .  We think the additional storage, larger cabin and better kitchen will allow us to continue travelling our way.    I'm sure that soon we will be loving our new pod as much as we did our old pod.

I think just about everything about our RPod is great, but I still really, really, like the shower.  After decades of tent camping and bathing too rarely in icy streams and rivers, having my own hot shower whenever I want it is the peak of luxury.

We had a tall tent with a queen air bed, carpet, a couple of chairs and a little table.  Even heat when we needed it.  I've heard of people who mount air conditioners in their tents, but we never went that far!  Anyway, it's great that all of that stuff is already in the pod, ready to use and ready to go down the road when it's time to leave.

We don't use it a lot, but the microwave/convection oven does get some good use, and having a perpetually cold fridge as opposed to having everything floating around in a cooler full of melting ice, and having to keep buying ice, is also really nice.

Hearing the rain on the roof of the pod is also an ode to joy.  Rain on the tent meant potential leaks, wet floors, and not being able to pack up until it dried out.  Not to mention it took 3 times as long, on a good day, to pack up the tent camp as it does to hook up the pod and hit the road.

Favorite thing - it's not a tent trailer! the Pod dosen't flap and rattle in the wind.  It's high, dry, warm and very comforatable for the two of us.  Don't have to wipe it down to pack it up and it's quick to load up and carry on driving.  Its a very easy pull and can be backed into just about any camp site.  The price point allowed us to move up and still be able to continue to do the other travelling we do.
We got it to be able to travel around and try out different golf courses over the summer months and so far it's been a whole lot of fun!

I feel the same about standing up and being comfortable compared to the tent but think there is still a time and place for the good old tent! One thing I did the last couple years before buying the trailer was got a better tent. My first year hunting in central Oregon with my friend I showed up with a small pup tent thinking.. well I'm camping, this is what you do. My friend has been hunting and camping 20+ years and his camp was well thought out. The best things I did to improve tent camp life were:
-scored a new tent off Craigslist. It is a instant tent that I got for 100 bucks, 9x13, literally sets up in 3 minutes or less and you can stand up anywhere in the tent. Really makes it incredibly comfortable.
-got a quick shade that I put right out next to tent door, this makes for the cook shack and a nice well lit shelter at night with gas lantern hanging in the middle.
- heavy duty cot with sleeping pad and extra blankets on top for a super comfortable bed and place to sit for putting shoes on and such.
-table for inside the tent. This is awesome for putting the daily items on and just having a space off the ground. I use a rollup aluminum table that packs Super small.
-hard case tote that I pack my sleeping bags/pad in that doubles as night stand once I get unpacked

Sorry to rant but this is what got me into my trailer! Figuring out how to be comfortable and not spend 2 hours setting up camp is well worth the efforts. I had my tent camp down to a 45 min setup, the traIler is about 15 minutes! A few other funny things we do is put out battery op moiton lights that instantly come on when moving about camp at night and hang 3-4 moiton operated trail cameras on our camp.. some people think this is crazy but it actually caught people stealing from our camp this year, one of which had warrants and pictures identified the person. The rpod is nice to lock our extra bows up in and know stuff is safe!

Absolutely my favorite thing is that my guy can stand up in it! When we truck- and tent camp he can only sit up, and has to manuever his way in and out on hands and knees (same for me but I'm much shorter than him). He doesn't complain and we have a great time. But now that we have RPod as well he'll enjoy the truck and tent camping we still do knowing it's not the only choice. Until he doesn't enjoy it (small-tent camping) anymore, by which point we'll still have RPod and already be comfortable with it and in it. Also this great community. We haven't met any of you yet, but still feel part of it. And I love the size and relatively modest appearance of our RPod. I'll add my thanks to Kup-Pod's, great topic!
