Either way is fine. Sometimes I leave them on the camper & plugged in. Other times, I bring them inside and put them on a "tender". It just depends on my mood. This year, I brought them in. The previous 2 years they stayed installed on the camper. And so it has gone over the years. However, if you leave them installed on the camper, check the water, as mentioned. |

I leave mine installed and on converter power. Only caution is check water levels in battery on regular basis.

We have taken our batteries out and set them on the concrete floor in our unheated garage. They were purchased January 2011. They get used a lot as we boondock often. All I do is give them each a 2 amp trickle charge for about 24 hours or until they reach 100% SOC; that is done early October. Nothing is done until the following April when I repeat the process. So here we are, nearly 7 years old and doing fine.

In our big camper we leave it installed and the camper plugged into a regular outlet using an adapter for the 30 amp cable down to the 20 amp household outlet.
On the rpod, I just today removed it, put it in the slightly heated storage shed and put a Battery Tender on it. |

We left our batteries on converter power the whole winter last year and they did fine.

The battery will be kept in good shape by the converter since it will perform the same function as a separate battery tender. However, in Ohio, if you feel it better to do so, bringing it into the garage will ensure that if you lose power, the battery will not become drained and freeze. A fully charged battery is unlikely to freeze, but a discharged one can and will freeze in sub-zero temperatures.
From Progressive Dynamics: At a 40% state of charge, electrolyte will freeze if the temperature drops to approximately -16 degrees F. When a battery is fully charged the electrolyte will not freeze until the temperature drops to approximately -92 degrees F. |

I can keep my rpod 178 plugged into 120 volts 20 amps for winter. Is it ok to do so & keep the battery fresh or should I move the battery into my garage & put it on a tinder. If it is best to disconnect battery can I still leave the rpod plugged into 210vac?
