Remove one of the drawers and measure it. Then measure from the opening to the plumbing. Allow an inch or two for the pipes to move. The remaining space is the length to which you can extend the bottom two drawers. I was able to add 3" to the bottom two. The top drawer will be blocked by the sink trap and can't be extended. In addition to extending the drawers, consider increasing the depth. You can increase them to almost the height of the opening if you notch out the ends to clear the catches. I did that with the wardrobe drawers. You should be able to see that in my mods.

With the wardrobe drawers, I gained 6" in length and 1-1/2" in height for each drawer. Here is the specific link to my post for the wardrobe drawer enlargement.

Thanks for a lot of good ideas and photos Wood River Pod.  We've already started some of these on our own or have them on our To Do list after a trip in May.  Not enough time to do it all before then.  I'm especially interested in extending the drawers.  Any idea how much extra space you expect to gain?

Check out my mods link down in the signature line.  These are some of the items we added for kitchen shelf space.

Yard sale spice rack and knife block (modified to be more vertical so the knifes won't fall out too easily when we hit bumps). The spice rack is screwed to the wall and the knife block is held in place with Command Strips with the hook and loop fasteners so it can be removed and replaced as needed.
The door side has a clock and the small remote for the light I put up above the sink (see in mods, link in signature). Key hooks are a good idea. I may take and use that idea.

We put up a couple of rows of key hooks on that side.

I'm curious how other 179 owners have used the precious vertical wall space on either side of the rear kitchen.  I know we'll mount a paper towel holder on the right and probably also a 2 tier rack to hold our coffee supplies.  It's the wall to the left of the stove that I'm still puzzling over because to reach parts of it requires reaching across the stove.  Not a big deal when the stove is closed, but when in use and the glass cover is raised then it's a problem.  Same issue applies to the triangular section of counter behind the stove.  What have y'all done with these spaces?
