Topic: Do I turn off hwh and water? Posted: 16 May 2018 at 4:23pm |
When I lived in my Pod for 90 days and would leave for the weekend, I would shut off city water and the water heater. I kept the electric live. Just too easy. When I returned I would turn city water back on and turn on water heater.

I do that when boondocking and running only gas. The electric heater is a bit of a pain to turn off and on, requiring either a trip outside or bending way down to flip a breaker. | No need to turn off the electric side if you're boondocking. No AC power in the boonies |
Except my generators.

To follow-up I also depressurize the system after turning off the water supply. So I turn the faucet on for a second to relieve pressure in the lines.

If you're leaving the camper for a day or more turn off the WH gas and electric sources. Why waste energy?
If you're leaving the camper for even a few hours turn off the pump and any city water connection. Campers are notorious for springing leaks. If a fitting pops loose while you're away you've got a real mess and possible water damage problems. Just turn off the water supply and remember to turn it on when you return.
Black and gray tanks no problem. Leave them alone.
