I asked Forest River since I had the same issue. The answer is simple: Run the end of the strip in under the awning as far as you can. Don't worry about what you can't reach. If you want to, you can stuff a piece of foam (I used part of a pool noodle) in the opening to seal it up better. This is more important in the front since air pressure from rolling down the road will tend to push water in the front. If you really want to do so, you can put some non-sag lap sealant over the foam, but if you are using closed cell foam (e.g. pool noodle) then it is not needed.

i have a rpod 179 ad need to replace the vinyl strip that fits in the chanel across the side and top of the pod. I have a awning attached. has anyone replaced this strip without having to remove awning? if so how?
