We use both the Rdome and a tarp that fits in the keder rail. both have been very useful, but different. We use the Rdome if the weather is bad, if we need more privacy in a crowded area or if we are set up for more than a couple of days. The tarp is quick and easy and offers shade and rain protection. the Rdome came with our 179 and we made the tarp. Vann

I bought the Lightspeed Pack N Go that Costco has (maybe had by now). It has the velcro tabs for the side wall panels, but Costco does not carry them. I looked on the Lightspeed Outdoors web site and they have them listed for $49.99 for a 2 pack (plus whatever shipping would be charged). Instead, I ordered a 6 panel set (2 packs of 3) Clam green side wall panels and got 3 times as many for less than $89 as there was a discount when I ordered. That set is now $82.99 Prime. I was charged tax and still paid $83.35 for the 6 panels. I could put panels on 5 sides and have a spare or as some people have stated in the reviews, put the 6th one over the door so it can be pushed aside to enter or exit. I don't know if I will use more than 2 at a time, but I have the option. I also have the Aldi version, but it did not have any provision for side panels. It has become my spare and the Lightspeed will now travel with us. We have the Thule awning, but it is nice to have a bug free place to sit sometimes.

Why struggle with attaching things to the pod? Forces you to sit right in one spot every time whether thats a good location or not at that particular campsite. I love our Clam, we put it wherever we want t, up and down in seconds, and bug and rain screens too. If a storm is brewing we just pop it down till its over.
Also being separate from the trailer it gets used when we're not camping. Right now its set up next to our swimming pool.
I got rid of my rdome as well. Everyone has different preferences..... |

Not my experience, do you own one? BTW - I gave my RDome away.

One thing I did before getting a Thule awning (We had an accident which required replacing the whole side which was equipped for the Thule awning) was to make my own awning. You can order the strip for the Keder rail from Amazon and if you have a heavy-duty sewing machine, sew it on suitable material and make a custom one that fits your needs. Look at my mods for how I made mine. This link will take you to that mod directly: http://www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=7712&PID=75522&title=our-escapod-mods#75522

Don't waste your money on a pahaque...either buy an r-dome, carry along an easy-up awning, or fabricate your own awning.

Good luck my friend. The wall on the THULE adaptable Pods is constructed different.
