Hi Stephen,
Thanks for the response. I’ll be sure to check for studs.

I also replaced mine when it reached end of life with the flush-mount model. It is so much better. I really got tired of kicking the surface-mount one off the wall. The flush-mount also looks much better. You will just need to cut a rectangular opening where the old one was. Make sure the wires are out of the way and that it is in an open area without anything that could be damaged where you need to cut such as wall studs.

Hi Alan, the flush model is a great idea. I agree it is easy to kick.

Thanks for the quick response.

When I replaced the one in my 179, I went with the same brand (Safe-T-Alert) but the flush mount version. I got tired of kicking the box off the wall. My 196 has an RV Safe propane/CO detector.

Hi everyone, I did try the search feature here and nothing shows up.

The problem is the propane sensor near the floor outside the shower was disconnected by previous owner. I just discovered this and I am going to replace it.

Should I replace it with a model like it has or should I use a newer model?  Are there any advantages or disadvantages?

It is a 2016 RP 178.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Mike Morris
