But not too small. Most hair dryers are rated at 1500W, which means you'd need a 2000W-rated generated to run it at full temp to be safe. You might be able to run it at low temp with a 1000W generator.

Your standard battery has about 760 watt-hours at a high draw rate. That's 30 minutes of hair dryer and curling iron at 1500 watts and then your battery is dead (no lights, 'fridge, heat, ...) and its life is shortened each time you do that.

Better to buy a small, quiet generator.

Hello BTRice,

First, I wish to welcome you.

Second, advanced search is your friend. The default topic search will only search posts newer than six months. The advanced search gives you the option to expand that to any date. You will find this question has been addressed in the past. In a nutshell, powering blow driers and hair straighteners is probably not a good thing to do. These take lots of power and unless you have a good means of recharging your battery and a massive battery bank, you will find yourself without power pretty quickly. Consider things like blow driers and hair straighteners items that you use when you have shore power or a working generator available. It is, after all, camping.

Has anyone installed an inverter in their RPOD?  If so, what was your experience as to how well it worked and how quickly, using the 110 outlets to power things such as blow driers and hair straighteners, di the batteries draw down?
