Back to reserving campsites.  Until 6 years ago we never thought of having to reserve a campsite, whether is was a national park or state forest campground.  This year (as in the previous 5) we go 6 months out to reserve spots in Rocky Mtn. National Park, North Rim Grand Canyon, and other similar national parks, if we don't they are snatched up immediately- so we have not seen a change in numbers of people camping.

We had a 2015 179 that we sold when we got our Vista Cruiser, we got 10 K for it with the spongy floor that we showed the person buying it.

We have had our Vista Cruiser camper listed for sale on the r-pod owners forum and the Gulf Stream owners forum for a few weeks and we have had not one person interested. On rvtrader the Vista Cruiser's about the same year are listed a couple thousand dollars more and we have done a lot of improvements and includes several extra items. I think the market for selling a RV is very slow now.

I guess my concern is what I mentioned previously (on origanal post); soft/spungy floor and fridge not working on gas.  Maybe $4000 is a little low; not on the market yet.  Jon

I think $10K us doable as long as everything works. If you look at RV Trader, that will give you an idea of what others are asking for. I just took a quick look and they seem to start at $10k for models older than yours.

Jon, are you saying you will ask $4000 for your RPod?  I'm considering moving up and was hoping to get close to $10,000 for my 179.  Maybe I will be cramped one more year if the market is that soft and hope values improve or I get a fantastic deal on a replacement.

I wonder if it would help free up unused reserved sites if Recreation.gov revised the $10 cancellation fee.  Perhaps eliminating it for cancellations made a couple weeks or more before the reserved date would incentivize people to be a little more considerate about canceling and making space available for others.  Here in the NE there are so few National Forest and National Park camping opportunities, that we can use all the help we can get to free up space.

I just read an article how Winnebago has missed sales and earning targets for 3 quarters. The industry is hurting and bloated with inventory, so I agree with all of the above analysis.

With regard to campgrounds, we used to reserve sites but now we almost exclusively have to go first come first served in National Forest and State Parks because reservable sites are all snatched up. The issue is all of the reserved sites that are vacant because folks backout but don't cancel their reservations. Not uncommon to see 3 or 4 sites vacant and camp hosts having to turn campers away. Really annoying.
