While it has been a few years since we lived and camped in the NW, our most favorite spot on the Oregon Coast by far is Beverly Beach State Park. It is just a few miles north of Newport and takes online reservations these days (back then it was first-come-first-served). The campground is on the land side of Hwy 101, is very large and is very sheltered with a lot of trees that provide great windbreak. There is a walkway & tunnel that go from the campground under the Hwy and comes out straight onto the beach which is gorgeous. November is usually a good time for the start of storm-watching season, and you can pretty much count on it lasting until early February.
Have fun if you go!
