Since using your cover, have you had any mold problems inside or outside your pod?  The fear of mold or musty odors are the only reason I have not used a cover.

 No problems at all.  I have had it on for over a year so far.  The cover has "breathing" room on top allowing air to circulate under the cover.

I remember reading about how you updated your Fantastic fan and will have to search for it again.  I am assuming the standard R-Pod fan is not thermostatically controlled. 


Correct, the stock fan is the "8000 Creat-A-Breeze by Fantastic Vent" You use the "6600R/417 Upgrade Kit", it takes about 10 minutes to instal the upgrade.

I installed the Fantastic fan in my 173 and it has the thermostat and rain sensor.  However, I the dealer won't let me swap units when I pick up the new 178.  One problem I have with these is that I have to store my pod in a storage facility.  I leave the vent cracked open and disconnect the battery.  Otherwise, I would go the route you took.

Did you discard the factory parts from your original fan? I kept mine, just in case...

True.  Most of us use outdoor facilities due to the cost of indoor storage in Florida.

If it's indoors, then the rain sensor is no big deal while in storage.. and you can just manually open the vent however high you want anytime..
