Some vehicles, like GMs, don't have that relay unless you add it yourself.

It will only be sending a charge when the engine is running. A properly wired tow vehicle has a relay that disconnects the trailer battery from the tow vehicle electrical system when the truck is not running. This prevents the trailer electrical loads from discharging the tow vehicle starting battery.

So when connected to the tow vehicle, is the pod batt charging even when you shut the car off, say to get gas or something? I know it is while driving, or at least thats what I think.
