We did not modify the output (yet). What we did do is get a 12 Volt fan that can plug into the 12 Volt outlet I added by the bed or run on 8 D cell batteries. That sits at the base of the bed and blows the hot air out into the main part of the trailer. Since it limits the heat buildup, having a sheet hang down does not worry me quite so much. Besides, if my wife gets so much of the sheets that it would hang down, it would leave me coldUnhappy, so it tends to not hang down. Smile

My wife is a seamstress and made our sheets/blankets so they don't hang over the heat source when one is using them at night.  During the day we tuck them under the mattress.  We haven't slept in quite as cold of weather as you but when in Glacier NP it did go in the upper 30's so the furnace did run a fair amount, but never any problems encountered.  There are some who have constructed an addition to where the air comes out of the furnace, you can do a topic search and find those successful projects.

Sleeping bags, and then you don't have to run the heater at all.  the rPod stays pretty warm all by itself.  Yes, it is cool but one is camping.

interesting question.  i never leave anything under the bed when using furnace, but never thought about sheets/blankets hanging over.  with the type of furnace it is, it seems like it would be difficult for it to ignite anything(not minimizing that it could though), but i may be way off.  any other thoughts on this?  hogone

We use sleeping bags...no trouble and easier to maintain.

2015 RP179

We have been camping in some cold weather- mid twenties each night and have been using our propane furnace located under our bed.  Was wondering if anyone has come up with a good way to keep sheets, blankets, shoes & clothing from getting near the furnace? Our blankets tend to drape over the bed and get near the heat source.  Was thinking about making some kind of metal fence that we could easily place over open area under bed to keep flammables out while we sleep.  Any body out there done this?Clap
