Well, I've learned something else from this forum. I thought it might be Canadian humor or another typo. So what would it have been if he really meant six thousand meters?

American numeric notation uses a decimal point to separate integers from fractional portions but other parts of the world use a comma or other symbol. He was saying six and 96 thousandths, not six thousand ninety-six meters.

I first encountered this while studying German at the Defense Language Institute.

If the 183G is 20', does that mean I need to call it 24' to include the length of the tongue?
