We tow down yearly to Cape Hatteras for the month of October to surf cast fist. We have towed down to Disney World multiple years .
We also use it around Vermont and New Hampshire just a a get away.

No I was quite serious in my comments.  That was a hell of a deal where I live.  In Wyoming.
Out west that is a bargain price for a used  rpod.

If you can buy a new one at that price do so, and I might start buying and hauling and re-selling rpods to the western US if you send me the links.

The dealer quoted price for a fully loaded (all options) 2017 RP-179 was $14,735, this is at Couches RV Nation and they tell me that they have people from all over the country buy from them, drive out and haull them home. They're also the largest R-Pod dealer in the nation and move about 200 a month.

I still haven't made up my mind though, I'm on the fence between the R-Pod and a Surveyor HTT and it's primarily sleeping space that's causing the questions.

I bought my 2013 R-Pod 177 from Couches in Summer 2012 and towed it 700 miles home to Connecticut. No regrets. $13,295 .... The local (9 miles away) dealer was stuck at $17,000 for the same camper... It made it a no brainer to take 2 days to go get it.

p40whk , a valid question.

Most people who buy a camper love being near forests - maybe just for hiking, while others like the convenience of having the portable sleeping quarters for using away from home instead of hotel/motel (think racing events, musical events, motorcycle racing, fishing derbies, mountain bike festivals, etc).

Some people have used tents for a long time, but finally give in for better living/sleeping quarters and the convenience of having a built in restroom.

I only use my R-Pod 5-7 times a year, and so far only 3 to day weekends. I want the bathroom, I like being not cold at night, and I like that the R-Pod has the capacity to handle my needs for more than 3 days without needing to recharge batteries.

I mountain bike, so it was only the convenience of being able to bring my sleeping requirements with me, being closer to the trails I like to visit (Vermont, New Hampshire), and I don't have to make hotel/motel reservations, and I have almost all the creature conveniences of home.

In the future, I plan on going much further from home, to many other states and discover new trails systems that so far are only wishful thinking.

When deciding a camper is what you WANT (no one really NEEDS a camper), you have to have an appropriate tow vehicle, a place to store the camper, ability to maintain it (not that much work actually), and the time to actually use it in a way that you enjoy.

Yes, buyers remorse is something that could happen, but carefully thinking about it before buyer usually prevents that.

That deal is posted here, too.

When we bought our popup we told ourselves we would use it at least once per month for 6-7 months of the year, and we did, including a week at the beach every year.  Then we did the same with our pod, and eventually started doing 4 week touring trips around the US.

Thank you !  It's going to be so wonderful to get back to camping.  Can't wait for our foam trip to Ohio to get our trailer.  About mid May.

Would love to hear more of your trips  to Yellowstone  camping.  What campgrounds you enjoy most there.etc. my husband and I are big nature lovers and hauling our just purchased R pod will hopefully be visiting a lot of national parks.    Even to Yellowstone once when our kids were little and stayed at the lodge.    Alaska is my favorite place to visit. Been there three times in the past five years. We rented a car each trip and stayed at cabins each stop.   Did you enjoy your Alaska adventure?  What areas did you stay?   We have been to Denali, anchorage, Seward, homer, Valdez , coopers landing, and all the towns in between.   We pick up our 180 in about two weeks , so excited! It took us two years to decide on this R pod.

Uh, no, I'm not kidding. It's a perfectly valid question for someone who has never owned an RV before. I have many uses already in mind for it but I wanted to know how other people use their campers to get other ideas I hadn't thought of. And by thinking harder, does that mean not coming to these forums and asking the questions that come to mind?

Are you kidding me, if you ask that question as to the amount of usage, I think you should take your time and think harder before purchasing.  I purchased my Rpod-171 with the intent to make a dream voyage, due to family situation my dream trip fell through, but it didn't stop me to enjoy my rpod, I just tweeked my plans and enjoy trips closer to home.

We purchased our R-Pod 179 in December. Our first trip was from NC to NV and AZ. While enroute, we stayed:
Street in front of a friend's house in Charlotte.
Truck stops (Flying J or Pilot)
While in Nevada, we stayed at the Desert Eagle RV park on Nellis AFB
While in AZ, we stayed in the front-side yard of our younger daughter's house.
While on the return trip, we again stayed at truck stops (Flying J, Pilot, or TA).

The only truck stop that did not allow us to stay was a Petro station. It was not for lack of room. The first clerk said yes and then, (I guess it was her supervisor) heard and said no. Petro lost a customer that day. I had just filled up, so it was not as if I did not want to patronize the business. I don't recall the location though. It might only have been that particular one.

We have also stayed at Holly Point campground at Falls Lake, NC.

Grandma's RV park in Shepherdsville, KY. This one has a very strange setup for fresh water and sewage. Both are adjacent to one another in a concrete pad. The sewage dump point is an inch or two elevated. The fresh water hookup is recessed into the ground about 2' from the sewage dump point. I have a separate evaluation of this elsewhere. For this reason, I would not recommend it. The potential for contamination is high. The campground was adequate otherwise.

Of course, there is also our driveway. I want to do some work to make a place along the side of the house so I don't have to keep it in the driveway. Right now, it would sink into the yard if I tied to put it there.
