Thanks Techntrek for that warning.   I'm wondering where I can get more specific information on that.   It seems like people are putting on baskets between the TV and TT.   The receiver splitter I saw was less than 7" long.   Is there a formula or something?
I had no idea how much I need to consider and am very happy for this forum!

You have to be careful of the receiver splitters, many extend the length of the hitch bar which cuts the hitch weight rating in half (more length = more leverage).

Lots of options. Two bikes can be carried on the rear bumper if you move the spare. Two bikes can be carried on the rear of the TV between TV and TT. Do a search on bike carrier and bike rack with my name and fwunder. You'll find all kinds of help.

We pick up our 178 later this month.   I was told by the dealer that I could take the rear spare off and put a 1-1/4 receiver bike rack there.
I also saw a receiver splitter that slides into a 2" and then splits an additional receiver to the top of the one that goes to the hitch.

How are you carrying two bikes?
