We found some rectangular wire baskets at our local Aldi store that are just the right length to fit into the pantry. Two of them fit on each shelf, including the shelf I added (see my mods linked below). I also use wooden crates under the stove, although I had to modify two of them to fit on the bottom since they were just a bit too tall. The crates and baskets greatly help with organization and keeping things in place.
One other thing that helps are the spring-loaded tension bars. There are longer ones for cabinets and shorter ones for the refrigerator. Hopefully, you will find something that works for you. |

We have shelves in the pantry of "Shore Leave," our 179. We use bars across the opening and a net as well to keep things from shifting too much

Use lots of small cardboard boxes and baskets. Turn the boxes on end to make a second shelf. If it is in a box it can't shift very far. And we use paper plates - the stiff kind that pack easy. We started last year precooking meals - like fry lots of bacon and freeze it, and make a big batch of pancakes and freeze them. or a big batch of french toast. Helps cut down on storage space.

We don't have a 179.. but storage is storage. Over the years we have learned, sometimes, shift happens.
When it does, have an adult beverage and rearrange.. ain't no big deal. |

Thanks Camper Bob. That's good to know. We just didn't want to open the pantry and find a huge mess. We have a cooler ready for the adult beverages

For us we just pack what we think we will need and shut the cabinet doors. Never had any problems. We do have a few metal baskets for a few items but most just sit on the shelves. Do take a pad of paper to write down the things you forgot or need to add next time. Safe Travels. Don't forget the adult beverages.

Good Morning All,
We're looking to take our first trip out this weekend. We have some stuff packed in the pantry. How do you keep it from shifting from side to side? We've put some stuff in baskets. Is this even a problem or am I just overthinking it? Please let me know. Thanks, Marty |
