To check for level...I bought a couple of pairs of small adhesive-backed 'bubble levels'. I parked the Pod on a known level pad and then used a carpenter's level sitting on the Pod floor. After adjusting the wheels and jack, so I knew the floor was as level as possible, I installed a bubble level near each of the stabilizers and one on the front of the Pod. The total cost was less than 10 bucks. Now when I start to set up I can look at one of the levels to check how much to adjust. The bubble levels are always there within sight. You can buy some really large levels but they
they really are too conspicuous. My levels are only about 1 x 3 inches. |

Yup, rule-of-thumb is lower the stabs until they contact the ground and then only turn one or two more times, tops.

You should not have done damage to the frame as the stabilizers will bend if too much weight is placed on them. (Always check to make sure all stabilizers are up before raising the front end of the camper up )
The stabilizers are there to hold the camper firm. You want to level the r-pod using items under the wheels for side to side and adjust the front to back using the tongue jack. Once things are good then use the stabilizers to snug everything up. |

Thank you so much for the reply. I had no idea that I could be causing damage to the frame. The dealer was the source that told me to use the levelers for stabilizers. I followed their instructions. Oh, well!!! Thanks, again. I have used this technique 2 times only. Do you think that I have damaged the frame? By the way, any idea about the squeeky hot water sink faucet? JST
I am using the four stablizers under the RP 175 to level the unit. I put levels inside the door and adjust accordingly until the bubbles are in the middle. Is this not a correct method?
NO, it is not. You could do damage to the frame. After I park I check for level side to side and adjust accordingly by placing short planks under the appropriate wheel. Than I unhook and check front to rear and adjust by cranking the tongue up or down. After all is level I crank the four supports down, they are only meant to stabilize the unit, not to support it.
Take care, Heinrich

A trick I was taught was to take a frying pan and place just a little bit of water in it (not enough to cover the whole bottom of the pan) and place on a kitchen counter or stove. you are level when the water is in the middle of the pan and not touching any edges.
I used that until I got my free level app on my I-Touch!

When traveling most people like to park on level ground in an RV when they stop. Most RV campsites do have perfectly level pads, but sometimes you do not have this luxury and therefore you need to level your RV yourself. Some vehicles come with self-leveling systems and feet, which extend down and self level the vehicle. Unfortunately, not all motor coaches, recreational vehicles or motor homes have such exotic features. It is easy to carry a few
specially design high-tech plastic plank stackers or just plain old planks. But how do you know
when you RV is level? First open the door on your R-pod and open it half way. Does it stay or does it
open further or close. Which ever way it moves is down hill and thus
you are not level. Next almost close your door but leave it open one
inch, which way does it go? If it goes out then you are leaning to that
side. If it went back before then you need to put a plank under the wheel on that side; see how simple this secret is? |
