When my wife and I were on the road full time for 6 years we had all bills paid direct from our checking account. All income was automatically deposited in that account also. Life was simple!

99% of the time sites that allow you to pay bills use an encrypted connection - as rpodcamper said, you'll see the site address starts with https, and you should see a lock somewhere on your browser (it differs based on the brand you are using). As long as you see those signs I wouldn't worry about paying your bills on the road.

Thanks for that info. We are looking into this for next year while we do some traveling. We were looking into paying bills while we travel, but with this info, we may have to look into other options. One option was using a credit card to pay your bills automatically. Are you familiar with this? Checking emails isn't as big concern. Thanks

RVers often look for and use public WiFi hotspots at RV parks, travel plazas and rest areas. But public hotspots are open and unencrypted so by nature are insecure. Information you transmit via your laptop or smartphone, may very well fall into the wrong hands. There are ways to stay safe, however. They are:
