there are no speakers in this model/yr Cry. The only speaker you have is built into the radio/dvd player. Which I'm removing.

are you replacing the built in speakers that are recessed or adding bookshelf type speakers with mounting brackets?

I just picked up a used 173, my first R pod. One of the mods I want to do is replace the mini tv/dvd/entertainment unit with a car audio touchscreen DVD player. Something with blue tooth. I'm not overly concerned with adding a monitor at this point. It's more for the music.

So how have you gone about adding internal speakers? I see these things called retrosound Rpods. Yes, they are even appropriately named Smile. I really didn't want to be drilling holes all over the place. The downside to these is you would have a short section of speaker wire visible unless you drilled a hole for that.

Any thoughts or ideas? Please share.

I also need to run a ground & power wire to the area where the tv/dvd player is now and later run speaker wires. I'm also added a usb power center with 12v outlet while I'm at it. How easy is it to run wires in these things?

Thanks all. I look forward to learning and enjoying the forums.
