You have to tell me why I see so many folks storing there Travel Trailers with the slide out?

I have never owned one with a slide before. Owned a Pop-up and stored open if I came back wet, but dried it out and closed and covered it.

It just seems everywhere I see one, the slide is out.. I don't get it?
Okay, you want to go inside every once in a while and admire your unit or do some Mod's.. I get that, but leaving it out, to me only exposes those slides to dust, grime, whatever you don't want on there. Then comes the roof..

You tell me.. There some benefit I'm not seeing?
Or am I just seeing people doing something they should not..

Now, if that doesn't sound Newbie.. You can add... LOL

	I think key word is store or storage. When I put my Pod away in an enclosed facility, I do not keep the slide open. For two reasons, it takes more space and it allows some access to critters at seal areas. When it is outside and I use it as a "mancave" I open and close slide as required. I don't leave the slide out in bad weather. To each his own, your trailer. Today and yesterday I washed and waxed my Pod, it is in front of my building, slide is out. Not hurting anything. This is the first year I will move it inside, last year I lived in it during the winter. When I move it inside at end of year, I will close the slide.

	I would definitely keep the slide closed when stored. As Mike above stated, "it allows access to critters..." I know the mechanism is different on the newer pods but on my 2011 there is room for critters to enter underneath the slide. During black fly, mosquito season in the UP of Michigan I have had to resort to putting a rag between the rubber seal and the metal mechanism underneath to keep the 'critters' out. It works, the only IMPORTANT thing I have to remember is to take it out before putting the slide in. I can only imagine the mess that would make if I forgot to take it out.

	Mostly ours stays out, because when we get home, unloading and resetting pretty much means it needs to be out.. And I am willing to bet I am inside ours at least twice a week, year round. Was in it today in fact.. though just to turn on the stereo for some yard work tunes.. LOL But our slides have had covers.. so I don't worry about dirt, leaks, etc.
