Remove Toilet?

We have never been on a long enough trip where we used the toilet often enough to fill up the black tank, so before I empty the tanks I have to use fresh water to fill up the BT and then dump it. I have thought about removing the toilet, cover the opening to the BT and then mount my porta-potty which would use up a lot less water and be easier to empty. Has anyone done this? Pros/cons? Thanks for any suggestions.

+1, I think my wife would quit speaking to me if I removed the toilet. I had a porta-potty in first RV, a 1974 Ford Econoline, and it was a hassle compared to the Pod toilet. Easy to add water.

Of course one can remove the entire head enclosure and all related parts.  It's just a matter of going at it with a sawsall and cleaning up the mess.  Of course, you'll have to deal with patching up all the holes, such as in the floor and wall where plumbing is located, and rerouting wiring.  If you just took out the head and closed the drain pipe and covered the hole, you'd have a closet to use and when you sold it you could restore the toilet.

In case it helps, we find the wet bath on our 179 to be great for easily-accessible storage. On a recent 5-night campout I piled relatively light soft items on the toilet seat to get them out of the way but still accessible, and other items on the shower floor. So the wet bath holds a lot even with the toilet in place (and we knew we wouldn't be using our shower this trip, as the location had a shower house).
