Must depend on the type of water you use.  I am still on my original which is now 7+ years old and it still looks nearly new with some minor pitting on it.  We have great tasting well water and once put in the tank in April, the water remains in it until winterizing in late October.

Do you need a new one? Odd that a 2016 already does..

Top one is ready for replacement, the other two are fine/new.

I want to order a new anode rod on Amazon, anybody know the number for a 2016 171?
