Okay so we chose the 179 over the 180 but now wish we had the dinette. The humungus table that came included is just not right. It's too big and even too high. We can't use it to eat dinner on without sitting on pillows. That's just silly. Another thing we're looking to do is to somehow add a little swing out table or shelf in the front bed area. Something to put drinks on while in bed would be really sweet. I'm sure others have had the same issues with tables or the lack thereof in the 179. Ideas anyone?

We also have a 179. The table is okay, but I am not happy with the collapsing leg mechanism. I ordered two sets of pedestals and brackets which I will mount soon. I will also put brackets on the sides of the ottomans for the table to hold the table when the pedestals are removed. Then I plan on re-doing the back cushions, replacing the three plus the little filler cushion with one larger cushion so that it will make a bed that is both stable and comfortable. It will make it nicer to use. We will likely use throw pillows in place of the rounded corner cushions. Once I get it all figured out and modified, I will post pictures.

We don't use the table any more. We bought a lightweight folding table at Wally world and put it away when not in use, more space. I am going to put a futon in this spring to get rid of the shoddy cushions and make a functional bed option.

I like the table but the height is all wrong. Has anyone made the existing table lower?

We replaced ours with a 40"x20" folding table from Walmart. It folds up small enough that we can tuck it in the space between the dinette seat and the bed.

My parents have a folding table that my dad built. I am going to take measurements and try to make one. I like the design. I will have to post a picture when I get a chance.

If I built a table you wouldn't want to put anything on it!

Stephen,
Rather than brackets to hold the table when in the bed position, why don't you get one more pipe and cut it down for your two pedestals at the lower height.  Then you won't have to worry about catching a leg on the bracket coming or going.  Just a thought.  The smaller/shorter legs would be easy to stow.
Can't wait to see the mod.

I've thought of that also. The ends of the posts are tapered to fit into the sockets. Cutting one would not provide the taper. I would have to figure out how to do this on a shortened one. The brackets might be simper to do. Depending on the diameter, it might be possible to get a piece of thick-walled PVC pipe and taper the ends to fit for when it is in the low position. I will have to see when we get home. Right now we are at my parents' house in Florida because my dad had a heart attack. He is recovering, but it will be several more days before we head home.
