We don't plan to use the wet bath for showering and the twisty hose on the shower is just in the way. It seems like a simple process , and to make sure the water is fully blocked from flowing out the shower pipe we'd find a way to plug it. Before we disconnect it I thought we'd ask if there are any unintended consequences we might not have considered.

Not really. If you can find a cap to screw onto the fitting to which the hose connects, put that on so if somebody does pull the handle, water doesn't squirt straight up. Or you could leave the shower head and hose but just wrap the hose and use a couple of zip ties to strap it into a small coil that does not hang in your way. If you ever do decide to use it, it will be there.
I changed out the shower head to an Oxygenics model and changed out the hose to a metal-wrapped one that is longer and more flexible than the plastic hose. We have used our shower so I wanted the experience to be better. If a campground shower is available and convenient, we will use that. However, since we tend to go long distances (and will leave again next month on another cross-country trip), stopping at truck stops and Walmarts for overnight stops, it has been handy to have the shower. |

This is one of those to-each-his-own kind of things. If you don't want a shower capping it off will be functionally the same as not turning it on, so there'd be no problem other than not being able to take a shower. To me, being able to take a hot shower in my own bathroom is one of the very best things about having a Pod!

Yeah, but for me it's not as much about germs as just having a shower. I guess a lot of people only camp in full service campgrounds with showers, and cable TV, etc., etc., but we stay a lot of places with no hookups. One of those places does have cold showers, which would be better than no shower at all sometimes. I still have strong memories of my tent camping days when I'd be going crazy for lack of a shower on about day 3.

Mesa, we replaced our shower head and hose with a metal armored hose and it lies flat against the wall. We rarely use the shower, but it is available if needed. Those plastic shower hoses are awful no matter where you are. We also modified the way the hose is held to the wall using sailboat hardware so we can easily disconnect the hose from hose holder in the wall and it can reach anywhere in the head. Comes in handy for cleaning.
