Calendar Event: Upgrade stereo speakers inside Posted: 30 Jul 2018 at 8:32pm |
Hi!
Newbie to the forum AND to R-Pods in general. We have a 2017 179 and have gone out 6 times already since May - we love our pod! I DO wish we could upgrade the inside stereo speakers - has anyone accomplished this? I haven't been able to find anything on this subject on this forum; my apologies if this has already been addressed. Cheers, Christine

Several have and I'm sure one that has will show up and address this.
I went differently and love it. I went bluetooth speaker. Inside/outside, by the fire, anywhere and real nice sound. Can run two or more (but I don't). This is mine: Their about $50

Upgrading the speakers won't help much. It's a function of the way they are mounted, the materials the pod is constructed from, and the 4watts per channel RMS head unit.

I think the challenge for speakers is that they have to be very shallow. The walls and ceiling of an R-pod are only 2" thick. That does not provide a lot of room for a speaker to "breath". Perhaps if there was a ring around the mount that projected the speakers out an inch or so it might help? But that would look funny. Happily my post-concert ears aren't too critical any longer.

I agree with the above comments. You could certainly try just swapping speakers but, I'm not certain how much you would gain. Some questions that I would ask myself are: 1-How much of a "sound snob" am I? 2-How much money am I willing to spend? 3-How much effort am I willing to put into the project? I have purchased stuff from these folks: https://www.parts-express.com/ and have been pleased with the experience. They have most anything from speakers, parts, cabinet kits, amplifiers, lighting, smoke and bubble machines, etc. Sound reproduction is a science in itself. So, question #4 might be, do I have the knowledge to build/modify or should I buy something "plug & play? Good luck! |

This is useful information, thanks. I have a portable Bose speaker I can just take and plug in somewhere - had forgotten about it and it would be the easiest option!

Greetings I bought an Onkyo bookshelf system with a built in cd player, Plug into a outside antenna with a amp. Sounds great and with long enough speaker wires, you could put them out side. It requires 120 but you could run it on a inverter Crankster 78
