Ironically, when I had my blowout, I was carrying two 15-inch load range D tires in the back of my Xterra.  I had bought them from another forum member and was carrying them back home to be mounted on new rims!  They sat in the back staring at me while I repaired the damage ...

I had a blowout while driving  on a three lane highway. I was in the middle lane, boxed in on both sides and ran over some unavoidable road debris.  I worried about tire damage, so staryed to slow  and the tire blew. I tow with a Ford Expedition and use an Equalizer 4 point wdh/anti sway hitch.  I think the siz/weight and hitch combo kept the pod from doing any fish tailing or sway.  There was no loss of control.  We slowed and went to the shoulder. The tire and fender were destroyed along with damage to the clearance light wiring, but no damage to the pod body.
One thing I learned immediately was the bottle jack I carried was too tall to get under the axle when sitting on a rim or flat tire.  I went to Harbor Freght and purchased a ligh weight floor jack that lives in the pod.
