10" memory foam. 8" probably would have been sufficient, but I weigh 280 pounds and didn't want to take a chance on an 8" bottoming out. It does make accessing under the bed and making the bed more difficult due to the extra weight.

I just did a lucid 3 inch gel memory foam topper. Queen size. Will have to trim it a few inches to fit. You can mark it with a sharpie and cut it with an electric knife. Cuts like butter and I am extremely picky very comfortable. I have a trap door to access the water pump and winterization valves. I push the head of the mattress up and use a ratchet type strap to hold it in position just out of the way of the trap door. There are so many choices as you will find out and a very personal choice.

After 3 nights in our 177 we replaced with an 8" EuroTop short-queen mattress from Camping World.  Not cheap but you get what you pay for.  After 8 years (and we use it a minimum of 30 days/year) it is just as firm and comfortable as when the day we purchased it.

We got a custom made 2" memory foam topper at MattressInsider to fit the short queen perfectly. It is awesome.

I guess it depends on your weight. We tried two stacked 2" memory foam toppers and I still bottomed out the mattress.

I went to a local bed manufacturer and had a short queen household bed made.  It is a firm and is just like the one I have at home.  The only problem if it is one is it is fairly heavy.  That said I really it.  Wasn't cheap about $500 but I like it.

10" memory foam Zinus mattress. What a difference from the factory being. Right around $200 on Amazon and worth every penny!

We got this 6" mattress and couldn't be more pleased.  It's comfortable, doesn't raise the bed so high that you need a railing and ladder, and weighs less than the OEM which was absolute junk.  The price went up about $20 since we bought it, but prices in Amazon tend to fluctuate depending on views and sales.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07J5HX864/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
