Topic: Refrigerator Posted: 30 Jul 2019 at 2:09pm |
I just bought a new thermometer set for the pod fridge. The problem is, it is running to cold. I know this isn't a normal complaint, but it might be because it is the larger 6.1 cf fridge that comes in the 195. I installed a thermometer in the fridge, and one in the freezer. As I already was pretty sure, it was way to cold in both. It's 98 degrees inside the pod. It is in full sun, and it's plugged into 15 amp outlet. I was getting 31 or less in the fridge, and about 0 degrees in the freezer. I'm moving the slide adjustment and trying to get it better. I'm not sure where the best placement of the thermometer should be either. Anyone have an opinion on where to place, and desired temps for both fridge and freezer?

IME, each fridge is going to be a bit different. Find the setting that keeps your fridge between 32F and 40F, and the freezer below 10F. We are currently on the center setting out of 5, so "3".. and our fridge is sitting at 5F and 34F. 80F in the camper, on 120v.

So 5 deg and 34 deg are good numbers??? I have just about that now. I thought it was still to cold at that temp. Thank you.

well.. the people who worry about these things, ie: the government, say the fridge should be below 40F..
The freezer I like at 5F or a little lower.. because it keeps the ice cream nice and firm.. LOL

That's pretty close to ballpark. Our home fridge is set to 37, and as others have said; below 40 is the mark to beat. Maybe a tad too cold, but not far off.

Crap, I went in this morning and it was 27 and -2. I have two damn freezers. The only adjustment I know of is the slide part that is on one of the fins in the fridge. There are no blue level indicator lights (1 - 5) like my 172 had. I'm gonna need to contact dometic I guess.

Do you have food in it? Thermal mass helps to regulate the temps.
BTW, you are the first owner we have ever had with a "to cold fridge" worry..

There's gotta be a way to turn that puppy down (up? I think you know what I mean; less cool).

On our Dometic refrigerator keeping the slide all the up the fin practicaly turns the refrigerator into a freezer. So we lowered it about an inch and its better. Do not like the slide on the fin approach instead of a thermostat control. On one road trip the slide fell off the fin and the refrigerator practically was turned off it was so warm. So now we taped the slide onto the fin so it does not move around or fall off.

I have the freezer part, but even with the slide all the way down, so that more than half is not even on the fin, I have a temp of 27 fridge, and -2 freezer. Yes that is with a fair amount of food in both.
