Topic: RPOD 190 DeWinterizing Posted: 30 Apr 2020 at 2:13pm |
Hello-
This will be my first time dewinterizing a 2019 190.... it was winterized by the dealer. Do they by default closes the valves to the water heater? Also.. does anybody have a picture of the water heater valve setup on the 190's? Thanks in advance

When winterized, the water heater should be bypassed. If you can find the access to the tank inside the camper, usually under a dinette, bed, or removable panel, there are usually 3 inline valves. the water into the tank should be turned in line with the hose going in, the out, inline with hose going out, and the center should be perpendicular to the hoses. You might need to find the fresh water pump and turn off the intake valve there also. There are you tube videos on everything else

The water heaters in most pods are the same. I have a dewinterization video for the 179 that may help. ~PP

Thanks.. helpful info and great video.
It seems like in the video you only turned two valves... I'm just curious how I'd know which ones to turn, does the valve have any indication on it which tells you which way the handle should be? I was under the impression that when the valve was shut it was in a T form and when it was open it was in line with the tube(sorry if that's confusing) just don't want to turn the wrong valves etc.

You have that right, if the valve handle is aligned with the pipes its open, if at 90 degrees its closed.

Dude, thanks for your videos. Seriously, I love my R Pod, but they tell you nothing at the dealership. So I've probably ruined the water heater and the pump so far through ignorance.
I think if I can get the stuff straightened out, I'll be OK. But I know what to do now. |

The pump may be okay. They can run dry. As long as it was not for hours on end, it probably survived.

The pump works, but hopefully the tank isn't ruined. At least the trailer didn't burn down.

If you had the electric element on it might be cooked, the gas is likely fine. You can get a new electric element without replacing the whole water heater. Fill and try the gas first and see if that works.

It was just the gas. I was boondocking on batteries.
Ok, water works, and I'll get this running. What's the next thing they didn't tell me? |
