    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 at 4:59pm
So today I filled my freshwater tank for the first time this year on my 2020 178. This is the first time I filled the tank fully, as I am doing the sanitation with bleach.

I am seeing a constant drip under the pod running down a black flex line under the tank at the frame. It’s a constant drip, I assume it shouldn’t be doing that.

I am wondering if this tube connects into the side of the water tank up high, and the leak is at that point. I can’t see up in there as there’s black spray foam all around the area. Any help with this is greatly appreciated, thanks! I have pics but not sure how to post them.

Newbie here so please bear with me!!

Thanks in advance for any help!

I did try posting a photo but it looks like it went to my profile only? I can see it there but not in my post. Not sure what I did wrong.

Ok I think this photo should work. You can see at the arrow where the water is running down the line and dripping off. Theres also some water running to the bend in the line where it turns to terminate at the aluminum manifold.

The line coming down is an LP gas line. Can you get to the water lines inside to look at it? If the layout of the 178 is similar to the 179, it should be visible when you look under the bed. You might be able to see if anything is leaking inside the RPod. It is possible that water is leaking inside and running down through where the gas lines go up through the bottom. However, not being there to see, it is hard to say where it is coming from. Since this looks to be a new RPod, you might wish to get up with your dealer to have it checked out. After all, it should still be under warranty.

Thanks- I realized after posting originally and looking again that  those are gas lines that run right down under the filler hose. I do have the deck open and can see the filler hose from under the bed. I can't see any water but will look again tomorrow. I wonder if the leak is where the filler hose connects to the tank?

I bought this last September so I don't know if its still under warranty. But my dealer can't even schedule me and asked for me to call back in July to do so. I figured if I could find and fix this myself I would.

Thanks for your reply StephenH I appreciate it!

If you bought this in September, it is still under the 1 year warranty.

Millstream, if your dealer is unwilling or unable to schedule a warranty repair within a reasonable time, you may want to reach out to FR for some help.  It is their warranty and they are obligated to honor it, if not through one of their dealers, through a qualified independent repair shop.  I think the FR companies are honorable folks and will work with you on getting the leak fixed.

Thanks I will be trying a different FR dealer than the one I purchased from to see if they are more responsive.

Just wondering- is it possible the leak is from the fact that I filled the tank completely to the point that the water began coming out of the filler inlet? In other words is it possible to overfill and that would create the leak? Not sure just trying to learn. Thanks again all!

Overfilling shouldn't normally cause a problem unless the fill line itself had a leak in it. I overfill mine all the time, no other way to know when its filled without crawling under there.

It could be possible that the tank vent leaked when you filled it.  On our 172, there was no integrated fill port and vent as there is on our new trailer, but the vent had to be somewhere, though I never needed to locate it.  You may want to try and track down where the vent is.
