Hi everyone,
We are Mitch, Laurie and Matt (15), from Boca Raton FL, and we have just purchased a new Rp192. I hope it holds up - we are planning a long trip this summer Mitch

Hello Mitch,
Congratulations on your new RPod 192! I hope you have many fun adventures and make many great memories with it. It should hold up just fine. There may be some things that need attention. I would recommend a couple of short shake-down trips before you start your long trip. We did not do that. We took off on a long trip the week after we picked ours up. We had some issues pop up almost immediately on that trip. They were resolved and I started on my modifications on our RP179. You can see them in my mods. Perhaps it will give you some ideas even if mine won't necessarily apply directly to yours. Be careful with loading. Make sure your tow vehicle is properly equipped with a good proportional brake controller and if it isn't a large truck or equivalent, make sure you add weight distribution, preferably with sway control. If you are concerned, you can also an electronic sway control such as the Hayes Sway-Master or the Tuson version. You don't mention the tow vehicle. Make sure it is up to the task.

+1 Best shakedown you can do is one in your driveway or yard. Keep a pen and paper or device handy that you can make notes on what you need that didn't include or things you packed that you won't need. Also run everything when doing this and note how everything works: furnace, A/C, hot water heater on both propane and 120, same goes for the fridge - propane and 120 (allow up to a day to cool down or if you want to do it in 12 hours add frozen containers to both freezer and fridge, microwave/convection oven, water pump (run faucets hot and cold as well as toilet). Make certain you have a handle on all this - so when you actually have a real campout - there won't be any surprises. Enjoy and congratulations!

We picked up our 192 today also!! Tows pretty well, little wider than our 180 we sold couple of weeks ago. Check the breaks out well, both of the brakes on the 192 are full of grease from the easy lube system. "Easy" means easy to fill the brakes full of grease. My 180 came new with the magnets and shoes coated with grease also. The outlet for the grease system is between the inner seal and the inner bearing. To much grease to fast or to much and blows by the seal. Happy podding,Steve

That is why the wheel needs to be spun while slowly pumping grease. It helps to keep the grease moving in the right direction. I've used the EZ Lube multiple times. Only once did the grease get past, but that was something that was likely also because I mixed grease types before I found out that I should not have done so.

Just to be clear, if you got geese on your brake shoes, replace them and clean the drums well. You could try to soak the shoes in brake kleen but they'll never be right again. Install new grease seals as well while you have the wheels off.

That is what I did except I did clean the grease off the shoes. That was on the axle that was replaced for loss of camber. Not that much grease had gotten on the shoes. I think I caught it early enough. I did replace the seal. It is not easy to get out without the proper tool which I ordered and now have on hand if I need to do this again. Were I in need of doing so again, I would replace the shoes also.
