New to this site, I just bought my first R-pod, it’s a 2016 18 ft. First off I’m finding out the water tank is in the back so now I have to figure out how to make it heavier in the front. I’m also seeing some smaller trailers like mine with awnings, can anyone suggest somewhere I can have one put on. I live in the Pacific Northwest. Looking forward to doing some traveling. Cool

Unfortunately, the sidewalls on the R-Pod prior to them coming from the factory with awnings were not designed to handle the stress of an awning. Most people just get an R-Dome.

The only way to fit the Thule awning is for the whole side to be replaced. That is what happened with mine when it went to the factory for repair after an accident where we hit ice with a crosswind. I would not recommend that as a way to get an awning. Better to rig up one that slides into the Keder rail. See my mods and you will see both the homemade awning and the Thule awning that replaced it.

If you really want an awning, you are better off making your own and attaching to the keder rail as mentioned above. You could go to the  https://pahaque.com/  website and check for a trailer shade, or trailer tent. If you consider a side tent, I would recommend getting the dometic cabana. https://www.dometic.com/en-ca/outdoor/ca/products/climate/rv-awnings/awning-accessories/extended-space/dometic-cabana-room-_-39387    It attaches to the rpod, and creates a space as large as the rpod, but it's empty, so it actually more than doubles your space. These things are great to have when buggy, or rainy. You can sit outside and laugh at the weather. Many times they are sold used here, or other sites. It's called an r-dome.

If you have a 177 like me then the following can be done so that you are in the 11%+ tongue weight range.  Dual batteries and duel 20# propane tanks on the a-frame.  I also added 2 used rotors from my F-150 and store them in the front storage areas under the bench seat.  Usually boondock and always start with a full FW tank.  After 10+ years and 36,000+ miles no problems.  First 8 years towed with an '08 and '13 Explorer.  Last 2.5 years F-150.  We use a Curt anti-sway bar as well.
