Topic: Resetting propane fault on Dometic Refrigerator Posted: 08 Aug 2021 at 6:30pm |
Okay, I am posting this just in case it may help someone else. Our Dometic refer in our R-Pod 190 stopped working on propane. It flashed an immediate error when I put it on propane. Worked fine on shore power and 12V. I turned it off and on, let it sit off for a while, disconnected the 12V, etc. Nothing seemed to reset it....... Then I happened to notice and read the yellow sticker notice on the refrigerator eyebrow that look like an innocuous warning sticker of some sort. Sure enough, the sticker set "Reset" and in 7 languages (one being English) it said "Gas fault". There is a nice picture of a finger pushing the triangle button that was flashing error. Push the button, it reset, and it works on propane again! - That's my wife standing to the side observing my foibles..... Hope this helps some other hapless person that also believes that reading instructions is a last resort.... |

That usually occurs when you either run out of propane or have recently changed tanks and because of having air in the line (not purged out) the RM 8501 has been unable to light after three attempts. At least you left your sticker on. Remembered that when I got a 177 back in March 2011 and immediately removed it after reading, like a bunch of other stickers. Fortunately I was able to remember that advice when the fault lit up.

It could have been much worse. You could have taken it to your dealer to "fix" and paid a lot of money for the technician to press the reset button.

Good to know! I have always lit a stove burner and let it burn a minute after running out or changing a propane tank. At least I can see there is gas to burn.
