Just came back from Florida to Virginia and I will have to say I95 thru South Carolina is horrible. Lousy road repairs and extremely rough riding road. I had to repair the front end of my r189 and add outriggers and everything seems to have held up.....but man I was putting it thru a real stress test. Any one else encounter any interstate highways that are in disrepair?

Hiya pedwards, I read your original post awhile ago, but finally have the time to add my 2 cents. :-)
My worst "hwy" we have had the joy to "experience" isn't an interstate, so not likely in 99.9% of readers travel area of interest. But, as a bad road, it would definitely qualify as an avoid-like-the-plague for anyone who likes their vehicle and especially their trailer. Ok, enough preamble...it is Highway 108 in New Brunswick, one of Canada's Atlantic provinces. It looks like a good shortcut through the undeveloped center of the province, runs east to west between Grand Falls and Miramichi NB, and it is actually a glorified logging road. It should not be labeled as a highway, let alone a provincial highway! You take your life in your hands, getting in the high speed log hauling trucks way as they just fly through and the speed limit is only a suggestion to them and a joke to anyone else. For quite a long part of it we were down to about 2 miles per hour, and that was still too fast. Award for worst roads in a city (so far only experienced Canadian roads from Winnipeg Manitoba to Halifax Nova Scotia on the east coast) would be given to Sudbury Ontario. Inside the city and out, they are terrible! I think there was a study done on their road quality and you vehicles suspension will die an early and sudden death if you live and drive in the area. There we go, my conrribution to what I think is an interesting topic! |
