Hey guys,
Among the many things I am preparing to get ready for camping in the summer, one of them is the backup camera on 2016 178. I've looked through the posts with ppl mounting on the spare tire, license plate etc.. I am thinking of mounting it on the rear spoiler with power from inside queen bed lights, which to me is a cleaner install compared to other options. Have anyone tried this before? I understand this option requires drilling a hole through the roof. just want to see how involved this is before I go with the other options, Thanks. |

It might be easier to tap power from the running lights on the spoiler.

That would be ideal, but too bad 2016 178 doesn't have the light on the rear spoiler.

Take a closer look. You should have 3 small LED clearance lights on the spoiler. |

I think you are right! zooming in on the picture taken before, I can see three small lights near the center。 I'll need to wait for a good day to take off the cover and have a good look at it.

Finally got around to taking off the cover and hooked up the Rpod 178 to my TV. Turns out the rear spoiler lights are only on when the TV's night light is on. so now I am left with two options: 1) Mount it on the spare tire way. 2) Modify the rear spoiler lights to be always on.

Or just drive with the headlights on.

We don't have that issue because when our F150 discovers a trailer is connected, it automatically turns on the running lights.

Thanks for thr replies, guys.
Thinking it over, it's probably the easiest to just manually turn on the headlights when backing up or when I need to check behind the trailer.
