Here is my install. Now, I also need to figure out a creative (i.e. cheap) way to better hide the wire/cables. Opps! It looks like I may be 1/8" low on the right side...must remedy!!! The bracket is a tilt model (not articulating) from (would'nt you know) Walmart. $30 |

I had planned to make this weekend my first assault of the season in "Campground Assault Vehicle #1. However, we have gotten over 9" of rain here lately, so....Indiana is, for all practical purposes, a large mud hole. I decided to just stay home. I was so looking forward to inflicting myself on a bunch of peaceful, weiner roasting, smores gobbling, normal campers!

David, all of the inverters on that site are pure sine wave. Farmers, yup, half the fun can be making the camper more useful. |

Thanks, Tech! $100 is do-able and, with it being pure sine wave, I would not be concerned about leaving it connected to the inverter all the time - depending how I end up doing all of the wiring/cabling.
At 150 watts, I would think it could handle a sat receiver also, if I ever decide to do that. (Like you mentioned in another thread....Cha-Ching!)

And the winner is.........
I found this at Fry's Electronics on the North side of Indy. 180 watts @ $80. A brief 20 min. driveway test yielded good results. I plan to give it a longer test this weekend and will have a better feel for how it performs. It has one standard AC outlet and one USB outlet.

Sounds like a deal, hopefully it holds up - the only problem with off-brand inverters is its a crap shoot on reliability and its actual sine wave output. The forum I mentioned before talks about this all the time, one guy (with major design & troubleshooting skilz) ended up re-building half the circuitry in his off-brand inverter after it fried 10 minutes after opening the box. When he replaced the part that fried he put it on an oscilloscope and found harmonic spikes all over the sine wave which led him to rebuild half of it. Not trying to sound all doom and gloom! If you have good results with yours I might get one myself.

Well, keep your fingers crossed.....I am. I popped in that store just to see what they had and thought what the heck....it's only money and I like to live dangerously.
They had a 400 watt model for $117 and additional higher powered models. I like the Samlex stuff on the web site you mentioned. I'm also curious to see if I hear it on my Ham radio. Going dry camping this weekend so, I'll post a review.
