But I have a question also. When we were sitting down with the final paperwork, the r-dome, which we want, was a $1000 option. Now I'm no manufacturing specialist or anything, but this option looks to me like nothing more than a large tent, customized to fit the rail of the rpod. This seemed to me extravigant, and I opted not to purchase it at this time. Did everyone else pay this much? If so how much? We do want one, and I'm going to try and call the factory tomorrow to see if I can get one direct. Did everyone get theirs through the dealer?
Thanks David Jenkinson

My husband and I just got a Hood River Edition - 177 -- wondering if anyone knows about a new color scheme for the dome to match the tan color of the later edition 2012 -- and looking at posts, seems like we paid too much if you can buy a fully loaded one for 12K

I love my r-dome came with the camper when we got our R-176. The directions to ours was infact for a popup tent camper. Heard several say they had problem getting the r-dome in the track. We had no problems and the first time using it having to read the directions only took about 15 minutes.

You are not going to get a brand new Hood River Edition, 2012 177 R-Pod for only $12k. That price was a couple of years ago, for a 2010 RP 171 model (no slideout and not an HRE), if I'm not mistaken. My 2011 RP 177 cost a few grand more than that. It was also fully loaded.

Don't know about an HRE, but we did buy, in July of this year, a 2011 177, everything but the axle risers and bike rack, $12.8k....

Well I did actually call the factory, they do sell it for $530, and ship it for $20. We're going camping with my brother and sister-in-law for thanksgiving so it will get it's first trial then I think (deep fried turkey, yum). Sounds like that would be a good time to use it as I'm expecting some dampness. And maybe it might provide some wind shelter for dutch ovens?
And $12.8k, dang I wish I didn't read that. We did talk them down a bit but you got a better deal than me, good for you. Ours is a 2012 hre, with everything but bike rack and rdome, for about 5k more than that.

The lady did want to know which 177 we had, and asked for the VIN. She indicated there are different rdomes for the hre and non-hre. I'm guessing it's because of the risers, but maybe color scheme as well. I'll report back when we get it next Tuesday and let you know. Dave J.

Will the Rdome work if you add the axel risers on a non HRE?
