Finally decided to purchase a new 171 today. Went to our local dealer and gave them a deposit. We will be getting a new 2013 Rpod 171 at the end of April, beginning of May. Now looking thru all our old camping gear and trying to find out where we need to fill in. Really looking forward to our first camp with the new trailer. Now have to decide where to go for it's maiden voyage. We're here in Portland so will stay kind of close to see what we forgot. Anyway, can now officially join this wonderful group. Since Sept. of last year I have been doing lots of reading of posts on both websites and have already purchased a number of items that were recommended. Thanks all, for your great suggestions.

Welcome and happy podding. So many great places close to Portland, how does one choose. I liked the Columbia River Gorge around Multnomah Falls, lots of quiet places to camp off of the old highway. Goose

Welcome and congratulations. Any minute now, someone is going to suggest that you "name" your R-Rod, for the sake of "fun". Just figured I'd give you a heads-up now, so you can start thinking about it, although leaving it "nameless" is perfectly acceptable too.

Nameless is a good name.
Welcome to the group, Camper Bob!

It has occured to me that a name would be appropriate. Lots of very clever people on these websites. Signing as Camper Bob is not that creative, and I can't say I have any serious ideas for a name. Will cogitate on a name and if something comes to mind will add it. In any event, thank you all for your good wishes and am looking thru locations for a maiden voyage. As ability permits will add photos of our trips. Always interesting to see where other podders head for and the locales. In any event, thanks again for your support and suggestions.

Congratulations! One suggestion we got from the forum when we bought our pod last year was to go for an overnight somewhere close to home for your shakedown cruise. Any problems or questions can be addressed before you head out on a longer trip. We had a leak in our propane hose...
May you enjoy many years of happy podding. B |
