You can either install a battery cutoff switch, found at places like Camping World, or a 30 amp blade fuse holder. I did the later, and just pull the fuse between trips.

Most auto parts stores will carry a battery cutoff switch.

Dumb Question - How do you install the switch on the battery case? Do you cut a hole in the case? I would LOVE pics of a cutoff switch on a battery.

I shall not rehash the wiring issue, But for the mounting of the switch itself, I just drilled a hole, making sure the switch wasn't in any way able to touch a post on the battery. I also drilled a hole in the key and added a lanyard. I got my switch at a local boat shop.
You pick up a short lead at the autoparts store, (I think I got a 12") run that lead from the post to the switch, then run the lead already there to the other side of the switch. |

Thank-you so much!! I sent your pics to a marina store and they have the exact switch. I'm going to pickup the part tomorrow. I'll take your instructions to an auto parts store to get the lead. Then when my brother in law shows up this weekend, I'll have the project all ready for him:) I want to install an outside quick connect shower. I have a shower tent and miss showering outdoors. Have you done that mod by chance?

I had an outside shower added - but its the usual fold-away type and not quick-disconnect. I considered adding quick-disconnects to the low-point drains to add a shower that way. But in the end I decided on the option that wouldn't require setup and takedown every trip.

I have not done an outside shower yet. But with 2 big dogs along, we need it. It's only a matter of time until they find something ripe to roll in while camping. I am going to do the regular outdoor shower box, directly under the kitchen window, in the slide, add T's under there to get my water. |

I have a 172 so no slide. I'll need to figure out where to put the shower and then find someone to do it. The RV place wants $400. Seems a bit much.
Thanks to everyone for all your help!!

For us, that just happens to be where the plumbing for the kitchen sink is, and there is room under there for the "box" part of the shower.. $400 does seem high.. The shower we are looking at is $40, plus some plumbing bits, maybe another $20... |
