It's not really "thumping" it's just that one initial "THUMP". Each time when our compressor kicks on.
After that it's normal AC noise. I figured and thought everyone's did it.

I will run mine over the weekend to see, but if it does it isn't loud enough for me to notice.

Mine has the thump, every time the compressor cycles on. Most of the noise is transmitted through the shell of the pod, and since I sleep against the back wall I hear it well. Usually it catches me off guard as I'm falling asleep, after that I get used to it.

Techntrek is right, it is when the compressor kicks on, I supposed being roof mounted that it transmits it to the outside shell whick is where my head is (172) when we use the short queen dinette. you can put your hand on the wall and feel a quick thump/vibration when the compressor starts, I think in the future if we need a/c like now, we will leave the fan on low to help mask the starting of the compressor, its still better than a tent on the ground with outside temps hovering around 100 and no air movement.

We leave the fan on low overnight, too. I put it back on auto during the day. However, we sometimes get lots of dripping condensation by morning - on the inside - and I'm not sure what the solution for that is.

we have not had the problem with dripping inside. most of our moisture runs down the left side of the pod and off of the corner, this seems to attrack yellow jackets and bee's when its hot and dry. My guess Techntrek is that the evaporator drain is allowed to pool and come inside, if you are ok with it, remove the 4 screws and locate the evap drain, I bet the goopy sealer they use between the cut out in the roof and the roof a/c has created a dam and lets water run inside. let me know what you find.

Mine did that when I first got it. The coils were icing up because tempurature probe that was supposed to stop that from happening failed. When the ice melted it dripped inside. |

What was your solution? A/C replacement?

It is critical that the angle of the pod is slightly nose up or down when parked! If it is level it will pool and run inside, also make sure filters inside are clean. I am in AZ, the only time I am not using a/c is december and january.

I'm also up against the wall when I sleep so I can feel and hear the thump more loudly through the wall than my wife does. She sleeps right through it.
And a +1 for cleaning those vent screens. I clean mine at the end of every trip, I get a few drips of water at the end of a cycle that comes through if the vents aren't clean. When they are clean I have no drips.
